4 Gin Cocktails...Everyone should try !

Updated: Apr 21, 2022

Everyone has a ‘go to’ drink, whether that be a refreshing pint of beer or a cold glass of wine. However, sometimes it’s nice to mix things up and this is where gin cocktails come in. At The Gin Inn, we love making gin cocktails and we are always happy to serve up whatever our mobile gin bar guests want. But, we also know how difficult it can be to decide between all of the gin cocktail options. This is why we have listed four of our ‘must try’ gin cocktails. So, which will you be starting with?

Which of These Gin Cocktails is Your Favourite?

You only have to browse a cocktail menu in any bar, pub, restaurant or mobile gin bar to know just how many options you have to choose from. There really is a cocktail for everyone, regardless of whether you prefer something sweet and fruity or something a little more sour, bitter or refreshing. Whatever it is you are looking for in a cocktail, a cocktail menu is sure to have something that ticks every box.

At The Gin Inn, our main focus is on local gins and popular gins. Therefore, we have listed four or our favourite gin cocktails. Not only are these delicious cocktails that everyone should try - if you ask us, these are four of the best cocktails out there - but they are also a great starting block if you want to find a ‘go to’ gin cocktail at our mobile gin bar.

1. Martini - When it comes to classic cocktails, it’s a Martini that first springs to mind for most people. A gin Martini is classic, classy and chic; doesn’t everyone look sophisticated drinking a Martini? It’s made using gin and vermouth, and is served with either an olive or a lemon twist.

2. Tom Collins - A Tom Collins is a gin cocktail made using gin, lemon juice, sugar and carbonated water. It’s generally served over ice and it’s very refreshing. Back in 1876, Jerry Thomas - a man who is often considered to be the father of American mixology - first wrote about Tom Collins cocktails, and it’s been a popular choice ever since.

3. Negroni - Hailing from Italy, the Negroni has become increasingly popular in recent years. It’s an Italian cocktail made using gin, vermouth rosso and Campari. It’s considered to be an aperitivo and it's garnished with an orange peel. It’s served over ice after being stirred, not shaken.

4. Gimlet - A Gimlet is one cocktail that very few people have heard of, despite it being very popular since the 1950s. It’s a classic gin cocktail made using gin, syrup and lime juice. There are a number of stories about where the name comes from, but most people lean towards thinking it comes from Surgeon Admiral Sir Thomas Gimlette. The story goes, he used to serve it to sailors to prevent them from getting scurvy.
