We're back with a bit of an exciting blog this month.. We got the chance to go Harry Potter mad at a totally Harry Potter themed bar for one of our beautiful Brides!
Harry Potter has always been a massive love of mine..maybe even a bit of an obsession ('I am what I am an' I'm not ashamed!') So when Tiff got in touch about her wedding..well buzzing is an understatement. I knew we had to make this the best, most magical bar possible!
Our bar, The Leaky Cauldron consisted of 5 fun, themed cocktails-we named them: Elixr of Life, Felix Felicis, Polyjucie Potion, Amortentia and butter beer. These were some of the brides favourite cocktails but with a wizardry twist.
The bar was draped with a Gryfindor garland, our mixologist was wearing the Gryfindor robe with pride (is it obvious which Hogwarts House I wanted to be in..), there was also even Harry Potter temporary tattoo's and mine is STILL going strong from Doris Loves , I feel like it just completes every outfit!
We invested in some super fun 'potions' to ensure our cocktails were oozing with magic!
We had a bit of a splurge in Oliver's Brighton where we managed to pick up Basilisk Blood (mixed fruits) Tears of a wizard (cream soda) Serpents venom (shimmery lemonade) and butterbeer. The ultimate witchcraft and wizardry additions!
We've now taken it a step further and have butterbeer that can go in wheelbarrows over ice for you and all of your guests as oppose to muggles beer and ciders, it's a real crowd pleaser!
Whilst on the Harry Potter rampage, we also had some serious fun behind the scenes, testing the creativity of our mixologists to find some weird and wonderful, fully Harry Potter inspired cocktails. It would be rude not to share so you can recreate with your muggle friends, so here we have it:
Unicorn Blood- This consists of a shot of your favourite dry gin, a shot of creme de violettes (purple colouring works just as well but the taste of this liquor is unmatched!) a dash of elderflower coridal, a dash or orgeat (or almond syrup) and a squeeze of lime, this together gives us that beautiful grey colour. Shake in a cocktail shaker and strain into glass. To go that step further, we added some edible shimmer syrup, stir through (we used the potions cauldron serpents venom) This looks best in a wine glass!
Butter Beer-Combine soda water, cream soda and butterscotch syrup in a handled jug, then mix two table spoons of whipping cream, two tablespoons of caramel syrup and a pinch of salt and combine until whipped. Top the soda with this and enjoy! To make this a little boozy, add a shot of vanilla vodka!
Goblet of Fire-6 blackberries, 50ml gold rum, dash of bitters, 1-2 teaspoons of honey, sprig of fresh rosemary and a splash 151 proof rum. Combine the first 5 ingredients, muddle the blackberries to allow the juices to release. Shake in the shaker over ice, strain into a round based short tumblr. Splash the 151 on top and set alight CAREFULLY, you can also sprinkle some cinnamon over to ignite the sparks. Blow out the flame, add ice and enjoy!
